Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy

Overview

NWGA RESA is a Georgia Professional Standards Commission-approved Educator Preparation Provider. The Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy (Ga TAPP) is an alternative teacher preparation program for individuals who have completed a bachelor’s degree or higher but have not met the requirements for renewable teacher certification. Candidates are served through a blended (face-to-face/online model) to minimize teacher candidate travel and absences from the schools in which they teach.

Georgia TAPP is not a degree-bearing program and is not intended to replace regular college teacher education programs. It is, instead, an alternative option for individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher but do not have a teaching certificate. Georgia TAPP equips teacher candidates with the pedagogical knowledge and skills needed to ensure a reasonable expectation of initial success in their classrooms and requires a supervised candidateship/induction program that will help them move toward subsequent mastery of teaching

• Secure a job offer for a teaching position in a local system in the NWGA RESA area.

• Hold a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university. If you are a CTAE candidate , please contact our office per your degree/work experience.
• Pass the content area GACE appropriate for the certification area desired and teaching position. Contact our office if you are confused about which GACE to take.
• Special Education candidates must pass an additional GACE content before program completion.
• Complete the Georgia Educator Ethics Assessment (GACE Test 360). Please select NWGA RESA as a score recipient.
• Provide official transcripts from all colleges or universities
